In the modern era, sexual assault in the United States of America occurs every 68 seconds. While sexual assault has become a major focal point for prosecutors, advocacy groups, and government officials, less is known about sexual assault in prison and how support services must be applicable to incarcerated individuals. Given the nature of U.S. prisons and jails, these services must be cognizant of the struggles experienced by prisoners as people and as victims.
